K9 First Responder / Paramedic + optional Tactical
September 23, 2019 @ 7:30 am - September 25, 2019 @ 5:00 pm UTC+0$575 – $775
Day 1 and 2: uLTIMATE / High Fidelity Format
This program includes handling K9 emergencies in both conventional and remote/wilderness environments, so you’ll be prepared to respond wherever and whenever you need to. Topics range from safe K9 handling and comprehensive assessments to treating the most common emergencies such as heat stroke, bloat/GDV and airway obstructions, as well as trauma massive bleeding and falls.
Students will have varying medical backgrounds and will be divided into groups similar expertise. Our goal is to convert your existing human medical skills to the canine patient. You will be expected to become proficient at the level you currently provide to human patients, and in addition, can also choose to try advanced skills (which will not be included in your certification). For example, paramedics will be expected to become proficient with IV/IO fluid admin and advanced airways. First Responders are welcome to try this skill, but it not required for successful completion of the course. For all students, this is a high-speed hands-on course with training aids including advanced veterinary manikins and ethically sourced canine cadavers.
If you are already certified in advanced skills such as IV/IO, Needle Decompression and Intubation (on humans or canines) please register for the “Paramedicine” program. Otherwise please register as “First Responder”.
Day 3: Tactical Responder Add-On
This 3rd Day Optional add-on is available for Military, Law Enforcement, and other Tactical Responders. It will build on the first two days of medicine and apply the skills within the context of the tactical environment, using the MMMARCHHH protocol, consistent with K9-TECC / Canine-TCCC principles, and extensive practice scenarios.
